Jazz Fest unveils heavy hitting lineup

With one headline act yet to be announced, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival organizers have already injected big excitement into the NOLA music community with one of the most outstanding lineups in recent memory.

Pearl Jam

Legendary grunge-rockers Pearl Jam join a crowd of acclaimed live acts which includes: My Morning Jacket, Widespread Panic, Lionel Richie, Band of Horses, The Dead Weather, The Allman Brothers, and The Black Crowes.

The 2010 lineup, as usual, features plenty of local flavor, and there will surely be another wealth of late night shows to choose from.

Props to festival organizers for booking My Morning Jacket. The Louisville, KY natives are a perfect fit, as the fest continues blending a healthy dose of contemporary acts with the traditional jazz, funk, and rock format.

Known as one of the most fierce live bands on the planet, Jim James and company have seen a steady rise over the last few years — packing theatres across the country, headlining major festivals like Bonnaroo, and — most notably — selling out the famed Madison Square Garden on New Year’s Eve 2008.

Jazz Fest 2010 seems to have it all.

The Fairgrounds will be rockin’ once again.

Video: Junior Boys | In the Morning [live]

The Ontario-based Junior Boys specialize in a slick, ultra-polished electro-pop palette. The beats are catchy, thick, and often times hypnotic — with Jeremy Greenspan’s breathy vocals weaving throughout. Junior Boys released ‘Begone Dull Care’, their third full length LP earlier this year. This is a live clip of ‘In the Morning’, the standout single from 2007’s ‘So This Is Goodbye’.
